Gheorghe Muresan Is A Very Tiny Man News
"El papa es alemán, pero el Dios es Argentino." - "The Pope is German, but God is Argentinean."
Three more players are out of the Team USA January training camp - We all pretty much knew Clint Dempsey would be in England now, and he is there, not signed yet, but trying to get a work permit. Alecko Eskandarian is supposedly injured but no one is reporting what the details are. And Brian Carroll is in Europe on trial with some team or another. No one has been named to replace any of them.
~ ~ ~ ~
And I was figuring that Landy Cakes Donovan would not be present at the start of the camp due to his New Years Eve wedding, and sure enough, Andrea Canales at LA Soccer News confirms that Loverboy is on his honeymoon and will join the team on Monday the 8th. How will he be able to play with "Honeymoon Legs" though?

By the way, Clint Dempsey will get his English work permit tribunal hearing next week. I don't know the exact date yet though.

Several readers have written to tip me off to the passing of New York Cosmos play-by-play broadcaster Jim Karvellas. He did games in many sports in several cities over the years and the Cosmos were one of the big ones. Not surprisingly it was Lamar Hunt who recommended him to the owners of the Cosmos. The New York Daily News, New York Post and Baltimore Sun all with stories.

Rangers of Glasgow have fired manager Paul Le Guen after only about 6 months in charge. He was the man who built Lyon into the world power they are right now, winning 3 French titles in a row before handing the team over to current manager Gerard Houllier. The last straw at Ranger seemed to be Le Guen's fall out with team captain Barry Ferguson last week. I guess the team owners think Ferguson is more important than Le Guen.

Fulham have added Roma striker Vincenzo Montella for the rest of the current season on loan. Montella is being replaced on Roma's roster by Francesco Tavano who is coming over on a six month loan deal from Valencia. And making way for Montella on the Fulham roster is Collins John who is being sold to an undisclosed EPL team. Merry-go-round indeed.
