Marc Connolly of the US Players Assoc says New England's Clint Dempsey took part in some of yesterdays practice and looked good. Dempsey said he is feeling decent. So it looks like he could play and that would be huge.

Frank Dell'apa of the Boston Globe with more on New England's Clint Dempsey's attempt to get healthy enough to play in the final.

At this point it looks as though New England midfielder Daniel Hernandez may be the only player not going to make that fitness level to play in the big game.

Could SMU coach Schellas Hyndman be the next coach at FC Dallas? The Dallas Morning News asked him and he gave them the old "no comment". I asked one of his former players, who said "I am sure he won't have any insider info for me." So it's all quite in Dallas for now.

Two days in a row we get American soccer news from Bloomberg. Who knew it was such a hotbed of soccer lovers? Today they have an interview with Danny Bahar, Red Bull's head of corporate projects, talking about New York Red Bulls, MLS, and what Red Bulls corporate goals are through soccer in our country. And of course the headline references Beckham.

Big night for American defender Steve Cherundolo as his club Hannover went to Munich and beat the champs Bayern 0-1. The defeat drops FC Hollywood to 5th place in the Bundesliga. Bremen continue to win and lead the league. American keeper Kasey Keller & Monchengladbach lost yet again, 0-2 to Schalke. I have a feeling that Kasey will be playing for a new coach soon. Benny Feilhaber and Hamburg lost again too! This time is was 2-0 to Stuttgart. He too could be seeing a new coach soon.

The internet was all atwitter this morning with news that Freddy Adu is going to go train with Manchester United. Man U then announced it was fiction. Then they said he is. You can be sure that the English press will make sure the flip-flopping story lines continue. I would tend to have more faith in what Man U say than in a story which also claimed DC United didn't make the MLS playoffs, which they clearly did. I will believe Freddy is training in Manchester when I see it. Simple as that.

Kevin McGeehan at the US Players Assoc says David Beckham is NOT the answer to the next step in the evolution of American club soccer.

This Sunday's Republica Deportiva on Univision will broadcast live from Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, and Chivas USA's Paco Palencia will be their special guest for a MLS Cup pregame.

One of my favorite players in England, Mohamed Sissoko of Liverpool, could be out of action for quite a while with a dislocated shoulder. Ouch. Last year it was a detached retna, now this. He plays so hard I guess it is not surprising, but very unfortunate.

Big Euro matches coming up this weekend:
Saturday-
Milan v Roma - these two cities clashing is never nice
Bayer Leverkusen v Bayern Munich - a big popularity contest
Sunday-
Barcelona v Real Zaragoza - the slumping #2 v the surprising #3
Arsenal v Liverpool - battle of the old boys
Ajax v PSV - the battle for Dutch supremacy

MC Bruce--

Steve Goff broke the training story in the Washington Post. It's hard to get a more reliable byline than that. I believe he's going overseas.
