New England midfielder Daniel Hernandez has finally been cleared by doctors to resume playing. He has not been on the field since early May due to bone chips in his ankle.

Columbus midfielder Danny Szetela ripped up his right knee during practice and will have to undergo surgery to repair it. He was just returning to form after breaking his foot early in the season. Bummer.

Juventus have officially dropped their civil court appeal attempting to reduce their match fixing punishment. I would fully expect to hear that they have been given a reduced sentence to end the legal proceedings. FIFA had threatened the entire Italian federation with severe punishment if Juve didn't end this by today.

Eurocentric Transfer News (with the summer deadline today you can expect quite a lot of action):
-Arsenal received Brazlian forward Julio Baptista from Real Madrid as part of the exchange for Jose Antonio Reyes going the other way.
-Wigan signed Irish (correction - thanks PK) midfielder Kevin Kilbane from Everton.
-Santos signed Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto from Bayern Munich.
-Chelsea finally got their man in Ashley Cole the English midfielder from Aresenal. Besides the cash, in return Arsenal also receive French defender William Gallas.
-Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) signed Brazilian striker Ailton from Hamburg.

Hola Bruce! .. Mostly wanted to just say hey, but also can't help but wonder what the hell was Arsenal thinking? I know they get a boatload of cash, but giving him to Chelsea? Unforgivable .. hope everything is going well in the land of lakes
