Chinese Children's Chip Shop News

-The fans in Philly are beginning to rally their troupes to try and get MLS in their town. Check it out: Philly MLS. They seem like cool people. So wish em luck.
-Tune in tonite, live on the airwaves from Houston and/or streaming on the web, it's The Soccer Hour with Glenn Davis at 9pm central on ESPN 790 AM or espn790.com. Guests: USA assistant coach Glenn Mooch Myernick & Houston 1836 striker Brian Ching! Call the show & be on the air at 713-212-5790.
-So what exactly is the city of Rome all about? It sure has a long history of being filled with egomaniacal world conquerors & wanna-be's. These days it seems like a bunch of whacked cry babies. Lazio has been in the news a lot lately due to Paolo Di Canio's Fascist salutes to the home fans who love it, & now Roma are going to be forced to play in an empty stadium (again) because their fans have been hanging Fascist & Anti-Jewish banners in the stadium. Who are these people? Don't they understand that this is not only a wrong way to think, but will not be tolerated by the rest of us any more? Hell, I don't know, maybe the 2 teams ought to be closed down for a year to let em think about it. Or is that something your parents would do?
-Team USA's big hope at centerback is Oguchi Onyewu, but does he have a serious problem with earning red cards. He got his third this season last week in a league cup match. This is not what we need from the Master Of The Staredown!
-Tottenham signed Danny Murphy from Charlton late last night as the international transfer window closed.
-Defender Nat Borchers has officially left Colorado and signed with Odd Grenland of Norway.
-Powerhouse & Unstoppable Reading destroyed my pal KJ's Norwich 4-0 last night. Bobby Convey scored the last one, and Marcus Hahnemann bagged another clean sheet for the Championship Division runaway leaders, who are now 10 points ahead of 2nd place Sheffield United, and a stunning 21 points ahead of 3rd & 4th place Leeds & Watford.
-Americano defender Carlos Bocanegra was the Fulham hero last night, heading home the winner in added-time as his Fulham beat Tottenham 1-0. Former Columbus Kiwi Simon Elliot served up the free kick for Blackmouth to slam home.
-The Fulham website has an interview with Simon Elliot, the man with some very odd hair.
-The last bit of Fulham news - Yesterday I linked to a story saying Fulham coach Cookie Coleman was in self-quarantine, but there he was yesterday patrolling the bench for his team. So which one is it Cook? Ill or not ill?
-Sports Illustrated has two new World Cup team previews up: Iran - and - the dreaded Mexico
-Soccer America asked three questions of Landon Donovan after last weeks ugly 0-0 draw with Canada, and today they follow it up with 3 more after the much better 5-0 showing against Norway.
-And the Chicago Trib's Luis Arroyave has some words with Landon Donovan too.
-Matchnight has a good preseason interview with Sigi Schmid.
-An interview from UEFA.com of the German Bomber Gerd Muller, who is historically acclaimed, yet still a tad bit underrated in my book. All he did was score! A ton!
-African Cup of Nations group stages are completed, so here are your quarterfinalists:

D2 - Nigeria
3 of the 5 African World Cup teams were knocked out of this competition in the group stages: Togo, Angola & Ghana!
The Quarterfinals start Friday. I will have the matches tomorrow.
