Oooooooooofff, Ouch, & Oh Yeah!

-DC United took a hard shot to the nether regions last night down in Mexico City in the Champions Cup. I only got to see the first half, which was quite respectable (1-0 to Pumas). But I woke up this morning and saw the final was 5-0. Holy Moly. Mike Petke got the red card, and those other two defenders they had on the field were shaky looking enough with him around. I can only imagine how bad it got with Petke out. David Stokes and Bobby Boswell are some serious liabilities for DC. Prideaux and Namoff better get healthy quick. I still can't figure out why DC was not able to find some good new defenders during this past off season. It was the only position they needed to fill, and they failed to bring in one real player. Unbelievable. So hats off to Pumas UNAM who move on to the CONCACAF Champions Cup final vs Suprissa or Monterey (who face off tonite tied at 2-2).
-On a better note, our man the Jitterbug, DaMarcus Beasley, screams into the Champions League Semifinal as his PSVer's TKOed Lyon on PK's. (I tried to get a lot of initials into that sentence). As a reward they get to face AC Milan, who look like a machine out there, plowing their way, unstoppably, to the title. And - Liverpool held off Juve to make it thru as well, and will face Chelsea in an all-England semi. Some very cool upsets if you ask me. Soooooooo, the Semifinals look like this:
AC Milan v PSV Eindhoven
1st leg on April 26 in Milano at the San Siro
2nd leg on May 4 in Eindhoven at the Philips Stadium
Chelsea FC v Liverpool FC
1st leg on April 27 in West London at Stamford Bridge
2nd leg on May 4 in Merseyside at Anfield
I assume all four matches will be shown live in America on ESPN2 (but I wouldn't bet my house on it, they may have to show some billiards trick shooting tournament, or a bass fishing special, or maybe re-runs of their bitchin' fictional show about poker players - it's as shitty as Dream Team too.)
-Real Salt Lake signed Trinidadian midfielder Leslie "Tiger" Fitzpatrick from the Atlanta Silverbacks. He can play Saturday if RSL need him against Colorado. This will be the first ever home match for RSL. They are expecting a big crowd. You can see the match on ESPN2 at 2pm central time.
