Good Golly Jeepers Mister News

Just announced - USA v Brazil - Sun Sep 9 in Chicago.
-Mark Ziegler of the San Diego Union Tribune says the reason Mexico v USA was canceled was because of a dispute between Telemundo & Univision over Spanish language TV rights in America. Really!

Comcast is going to offer their customers a free 9 day preview of Fox Soccer Channel - Fri Aug 17 to Sun Aug 26.

My favorite player in Spain last season, Brazilian right back Daniel Alves is about to sign with Chelsea. I am bummed. I wish he was signing for a team that would give him the freedom to take over games, not a team desperately in need of a very disciplined right back.

Here is the USA roster for next Tuesdays match in Sweden. (see Swedish roster below)
Marcus Hahnemann
Tim Howard
Carlos Bocanegra
Jonathan Bornstein
Steve Cherundolo
Jay DeMerit
Oguchi Onyewu
Jonathan Spector
DaMarcus Beasley
Michael Bradley
Bobby Convey
Clint Dempsey
Benny Feilhaber
Pablo Mastroeni
Landon Donovan
Charlie Davies
Kamani Hill
Josh Wolff
Sal Zizzo

This USA U17 team only has 1 professional player on it (Minneapolis's own Abdusalam Ibrahim). It will be interesting to see how long it will be before teams like this in America are all pro's. We have already seen where nearly every player on the USA U20 team is now a pro, and what a huge difference it makes.

The Times also has the latest from Moritz Volz. He is the Fulham defender who is a true human, ie. he has interests outside the game. This week he writes about picking his fantasy league team. (I know, that makes him look like a ultra-geek, but trust me, he is the man.)

AWESOME, I am so happy to hear about USA v. Brazil!!! I'll take them over Mexico any day. With Mexico we know we can win, but with Brazil it's a whole different kind of mental game, and one that USA'ian players need to learn to win.

btw, "leg shaving advocate," where do you come up with this stuff Bruce?
